Chai tea is black tea with spices which is my favorite hot tea that I love to order at the coffee shop every time when I stop by. I love the flavor of the tea with all spices they put in it make me curious what inside this type of tea and I actually research how to prepare it. It is really interesting that originally of this Chai Tea Latte is from India. Indian spices are all well known which they are very clever of how they put all spices blend well into a cup of black tea and add some milk then they called it "Chai Tea Latte".
I often drink this chai tea latte in the morning to refresh myself before I start my day. Also, this tea can be serve at English afternoon tea time with blueberry scones and raspberry sauce, I would enjoy this time with my favorite people to chit chat and relaxing. Or serving this tea with evening dessert like cream puffs or cake which is also go well together.
Menu Ingredients Serving for 2
There are two parts of ingredients of how to prepare Chai Tea Latte at home.
Chai Tea Ingredients
2 cups of Water
2 bags of Black Tea (I have mixed Chai and Green Tea powder instead of Black Tea bags)
1/2 teaspoon of Cinnamon (can you 1/2 of Cinnamon stick)
1/2 teaspoon of Ginger
1/2 teaspoon of Cardamon
1/2 teaspoon of Nutmeg
1/8 teaspoon of All Spices
2 tablespoons of Maple Syrup
*If I need to serve for more cups, I just needed to double the ingredients.
Chai Tea Preparation
In a small pot, added water and bring to boil with high heat.
Added black tea (or tea as you prefer), cinnamon, ginger, cardamon, nutmeg, all spices, and syrup, stir well and let it simmer for at least 3-5 minutes.
When it done, turn off stove and drain the tea into a store container with strainer and sheet cloth to get all the big spices pieces out of the tea.
Latte Ingredients
1 and 3/4 cups of Whole Milk (you can use other types as you prefer such as; less fat milk, 2% fat milk, nut milk, soy milk,or almond milk)
4 tablespoons of Maple Syrup (2 tablespoons of maple syrup for each cup, however you can put less, if you prefer less sweet)
Pinch of Nutmeg or Cinnamon (I love the smell of nutmeg but if you prefer smell of cinnamon, they you will pinch with cinnamon before serve)
Latte Preparation
In a small pot, added milk and bring to a little boiling with medium heat. Use a hand whisk, whisking until it form foam take approximately 3 - 5 minutes.
Cups Preparation Before Serving
In a serving cup, added Chai tea about 1/4 cup and added 2 tablespoons of syrup, mixed well.
Then gently added hot milk with some foam over the tea.
Pinch some nutmeg over the foam before serving.
