Fingi or Sicilian Donuts

Updated: Jun 28, 2023

I have been always want to try this menu for a very long time because my husband love this Italian dessert. My mother in law usually will make this dessert for us when we visiting her house and he would serve us with espresso coffee, they sweet dessert and bitter coffee which always went well together. My mother-in-law origin from Sicily, Italy and of course, this Fingi is her home town dessert menu that why my husband love this dessert because he have been tasting this donuts from his mom since he was little. So, when he ask for and I want to try some new dessert. So, I decide to try and it came out very surprising everyone in my home after they take a bite.

Sicilian Donuts is original from Sicily, Italy or they called "Fingi" in Italian. Fingi is little ball donuts that make from main ingredient of ricotta cheese, of course, because ricotta cheese is Italian cheese, isn't it.

Fingi has sweetness flavor as it has jaggerty (Indian sugar cane which it is less process sugar) if you don't have jaggerty then use sugar or other sweet healthy choices you prefer. Cheese and milk give some creamy flavor and baking powder making it fluffy while cooking on he hot oil.

Deep fired usually is not very healthy but sometime our household craving that. So, I try to use healthy or organic or healthier substitute I can find from the grocery store I shop. I make this menu not too often, only once in a while. Deep fired use a lot of oil and this is very important not to reuse it again because oil for deep fired is already process and it only good for only one time use with the high heat. If reuse with high heat again will from some bad chemical that will effect our body and make the food hard to digest.
